East Mongkok - Oct 9, 2010

East Mongkok is known for its abundance in pet shops and knock-off clothing, so Chin, Vivien and I decided to go check it out because we wanted to look at animals. But of course, we wanted to get boba first.

It’s a good 15 minute walk from the Mongkok stop where we got off the MTR, and you need to cross a bridge to get there, passing by vendors and numerous apartment complexes. Everything was even more dense than it is in the main part of Mongkok.

We finally got to the pet shops, and started out with fish,

Turtles (I like turtles),

Bunnies (yes, I’m a total bad-ass for not following rules),

until we finally got to my favorite: puppies!!

WHA SO CUTE, DIE OF CUTENESS OVERLOAD:

Then we laughed at a fat cat playing with his fellow cats. The trainer was throwing out a little birdie and making the cats paw after it, but the fat cat was a little slower than the rest.

HEHEHEHE.

Once we were fully amused, we headed towards the East MongKok station with the intention of going home, but were easily distracted by the Halloween display that the indoor mall had set up called The Haunted Restaurant. We thought that it was a themed restaurant (which I was really excited about), but it just ended up being one of those cheesy mazes.

We went anyways.

It was kind of fun, and we had to cross this “red blood cell” bridge at the beginning before getting to a wall painted with scary faces, all the while being followed by costumed creatures who weren’t really scary at all. We said HI and asked them for a picture.

And the maze wasn’t completed yet! How lame is this?!

It was all in all, the shortest 2 minutes of my life. So we cam-hoed to make our experience more worthwhile.

I have to admit, they did have some awesome displays.

Vivien, being the purikura freak she is, dragged us to go take some pics before we finished the day.

But not before Chin and I bought a crapload of ramen cups,

made fun of Engrish items,

and admired giant macaron displays that we can’t eat.
